This is a paper by Samuel Scheffler connected to themes in his upcoming talk: Existential Catastrophe & the Love of Humanity, which will take place on May 8 at 7 pm in the Fine Arts Recital Hall. This event is the final Public Forum of the Center for Ethics and Values this year and also part of the Dresher Center's Humanities Forum. Co-sponsored by the Dresher Center for the Humanities; the
Department of Geography and Environmental Systems; and the Human Context
of Science and Technology Program. We hope to see you there!
You are welcome to come even if you don't have time to
read the paper, or only have time to read part of it, though you will
no doubt get more out of the discussion if you've read it. And it's a short and interesting essay!
These public forms are open for full participation by all
individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin,
or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law,
and the University’s nondiscrimination policy.
